Arvind Kejriwal had met Sunita during his IRS training. There was a deep friendship between the two, although they did not express love for a long time. Once Arvind Kejriwal knocked on the door of Sunita’s room in the academy and proposed. Even before the first posting, the two tied the marital alliance with the consent of the family.
Education and Career:
- His early education was at Campus School, Hinsar, Haryana. She completed her schooling from Christian Missionary School, Sonepat, Haryana. Kejriwal passed his matriculation in 1985.
- Arvind cleared the IIT-JEE exam in 1985 itself and completed his B Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur by 1989.
- After leaving college in 1989, Kejriwal worked at Tata Steel in Jamshedpur for about three years.
- But Kejriwal soon lost interest in the job and resigned in 1992.
- After leaving the company, Kejriwal worked in contact with Mother Teresa in Kolkata for a few days. It is said that Kejriwal spent about two months there, but soon he also lost interest in this social work.
- Then he came back to his home from Kolkata and started preparing for the civil services by staying in Delhi.
In 1995, he cleared the UPSC exam in his very first attempt. He got a job in the Indian Revenue Service (IRS). - He tried again because he wanted to go to the IAS. For the second time, he got success in the IRS itself and was made Assistant Commissioner in the Income Tax Department in 1995.

Arvind Kejriwal's political career:
- In 2011, Kejriwal, along with social activist Anna Hazare, formed the India Against Corruption (IAC) group to demand the implementation of the Jan Lokpal Bill.
- And with this demand, Anna Hazare sat on a hunger strike at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on August 16. The protest continued till August 28. During this movement, Arvind Kejriwal came into the limelight for the first time in 2011.
- Kejriwal was accompanied by several prominent people. These included Kiran Bedi, Manish Sisodia, Kumar Vishwas and Prashant Bhushan.
- After the end of Anna’s movement, some people associated with it like Arvind Kejriwal, Kumar Vishwas, Manish Sisodia and Prashant Bhushan formed the Aam Aadmi Party on 2 October 2012. Arvind Kejriwal is the national convenor of the party. This was the beginning of Kejriwal’s political journey.
- In the 2013 Delhi Assembly elections, Arvind Kejriwal stood from the New Delhi Assembly seat and directly challenged the three-time Chief Minister of Delhi for 15 years, Sheila Dikshit. He defeated Sheila Dikshit by a margin of 25,864 votes.
- Later, Kejriwal formed his government by winning the 2015 and 2020 Delhi Assembly elections and succeeded in becoming the Chief Minister of Delhi. At present, Arvind Kejriwal is the current Chief Minister of Delhi in 2024.
